The HITWAY BK7S PRO is a full-size 27.5 inch hybrid built for the commute rather than the trail, and it is one of the few bikes in this price band that states its EAPC credentials clearly enough to be worth trusting. A 250W rear hub motor gives assistance up to 25 km/h (15.5 mph), and the spec sheet lists the motor form as assist mode with no throttle fitted, which is what keeps it legal to ride on UK roads and cycle paths without registration, tax or insurance.
The 36V 12.8Ah (460.8Wh) battery is removable, so it can come indoors to charge rather than needing a socket next to wherever the bike lives, and HITWAY quote 50 to 80km per charge depending on load and terrain. A 21-speed drivetrain gives plenty of range for hills, and 27.5 x 2.25 inch puncture-resistant tyres on an adjustable suspension fork suit potholed city tarmac and the occasional towpath equally well.
Where it earns its keep against cheaper rivals is the equipment fitted as standard: front and rear lights, reflective rim strips, a rear rack and NFC card or app unlocking, with an LCD display showing speed, mileage and battery level plus basic fault diagnostics. The mechanical disc brakes are the obvious cost saving, and the sister BK7S PLUS swaps to 29 inch wheels, a 7-speed drivetrain and hydraulic brakes if stopping power matters more to you than gear range.
Worth knowing before you buy: this is a heavy bike at around 27kg, so carrying it up steps is a two-handed job, and it arrives part-assembled with the handlebars, front wheel, rack and mudguard to fit.
